What it does

Overpressure glues, levels and smashes, then lets you push the result through saturation, overdrive, distortion and fuzz. It works as a polite bus compressor and as the box that makes drums sound like they are about to burst.

A compressor first

A soft-knee compressor with threshold, a ratio from 1:1 to 20:1, attack from 0.1 to 100 ms and decay from 10 ms to a second. Input and output gain, with auto makeup when you want the level kept.

Saturation

A saturation control after the compressor, from a little warmth to a thick, pressed sound.

Three stages of dirt

Overdrive, Distortion and Fuzz, each with its own switch and amount, run in that order. Use one for colour or stack all three.

Clean where it counts

The saturation and drive stages run at four times the sample rate to keep aliasing down.

Tame the top

A low-pass filter from 200 Hz to 20 kHz after the drive takes the edge off whatever the dirt adds.

Watch it work

A VU meter shows the gain reduction, with level meters on the input and the output.

Presets to start from

Nine factory presets, from Gentle Glue and Vocal Leveler to Drum Smash, Bass Grit and Lo-Fi Fuzz.
