Christiania Audiowalk

in

I have composed original music for two episodes of the historical audio walk “Fra Strandeng til Fristad. -Historiske scenarier i området omkring Pusherstreet” (“From Beach Meadow to Free Haven – Historical Scenarios in the Area Around Pusher Street”), produced by Sofie Hjorth and Mette Post.

The podcast takes the listener on a journey through time in the area now known as Pusher Street in Christiania. Through atmospheric narratives and soundscapes, the layers of history unfold – from beach meadows and prairies to the free haven’s turbulent past.

Specifically, I have composed music for the following episodes:

  • Episode 1: Prærien (“The Prairie”) The music supports the storytelling about the free haven’s “wild west” period, when hash sales flourished freely until the yellow line was drawn in 1989. I have created an atmospheric and time-worn sonic universe that blends historical clips with original compositions. Listen here:
  • Episode 3: Strandeng (“Beach Meadow”) Here, the listener is invited to “dip their toes” in the old beach meadow that existed before Christianshavn was built. The music is calm, organic, and evocative to emphasize the natural and prehistoric landscape. Listen here:

The full audiowalk is a poetic and in-depth audio walk that connects past and present in one of Copenhagen’s most mythical areas. It can be heard free on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other platforms, or here:

Through music and storytelling, “Fra Strandeng til Fristad” (“From Beach Meadow to Free Haven”) brings the listener closer to the many stories that have shaped Christiania – from its origins as a beach meadow to its development as a free haven and its continued significance today. It is a unique opportunity to experience history in a new and engaging way through the power of sound.
